March 2005 Angelina is Invited to the Palace
The Queen is opening the doors of Buckingham Palace to the music industry for
the first time, with an event to celebrate its contribution to British culture.
Up to 600 musicians and industry figures will attend the reception given by Her
Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh on March 1, representing the first time the
Queen has recognised the music industry en masse. Those who have already
responded include Eric Clapton, Sir Tim Rice, Terry Wogan and a London
Underground busker named Angelina Kalahari.

March 2004 - Angelina receives recognition for her work on
the Underground
As you get off the Jubilee Line train and step on to the escalator at Green
Park there is no mistaking the response of passengers when they hear the music.
Their faces relax, smiles appear - and they begin searching for loose change.
After years of attempts to keep buskers out of stations, busking on London
Underground has now become legal. Tube managers applied for a change in the
bylaws which banned busking. Now auditions are held, and licences given to the
most talented entertainers to perform at stations on the network.
Angelina Kalahari is one of more than 800 licensed buskers. Classically
trained, she sings arias and classical songs twice a week in two-hour
slots.
'I started busking as soon as it became legal, and this is how I make most of
my living,' she says. 'People are always taking my business cards because I
also sing at parties, weddings and corporate functions.'

After each of my performances on the Underground, I usually received
lovely emails from commuters who'd collect my business cards and take the time to give
me some feedback. This was a part of my work that I absolutely adored! The following
emails are prime examples of how wonderful people are, and I'd like to share it
here.
" Angelina !
There I was strolling sedately through Oxford Circus underground when suddenly the hairs were rising on the back of my neck and tears were astreaming unbidden down my unshaven face. Why, you may very well ask. I was hearing the voice of an angel singing one of my favourite, ahem, ditties. I loved it ! Hopefully I will hear you again soon and on that occasion I will be able to afford your CD.
thank you !!!!
Eamon .
"I was travelling via Oxford Circus tube
station one morning and could hear opera music being sung in the
distance, now I am no opera buff but it made the hairs on my arms
stand up. I made it my business to track down the source and came
upon Angelina. I had no hesitation in inviting her to sing at a
luncheon I was organizing at the Royal Opera House for 400 plus
guests. She did not disappoint and gave a spectacular performance.
Given the opportunity I will definitely use her services again -
extremely good value for money." Jane Attwater
And even now, when I'm now longer busking, people still continue to give me great compliments. Following are a
small sample:
"Thank you Angelina for performing during
our wedding ceremony. The fabulous richness and purity of your voice
had us and our guests mesmerised and added to the wonderful sense of
occasion." Adi.
Thank you Angelina for a wonderful performance!
The guests at our centennial celebration were amazed by your beautiful voice
and as organizer of the evening I received much appreciation on your behalf,
in addition to the standing ovations following your appearance on stage. We
were fortunate to come across your name and I would certainly recommend you
to others looking for good quality and devoted performers at corporate
functions and other events.
Kind regards,
Jenny R, SKF, Sweden
Angelina, your performance really made the evening something special!
It's wonderful to work with a true professional such as Angelina Kalahari!
In everything from preparations to the actual execution of the event,
Angelina worked closely together with our producer in order to secure a
great performance. Angelina has a great voice and I would love to contract
her again!

Dear Angelina,
Just to say a big thank you for your beautiful singing at our wedding.
Everybody has been saying how wonderful it was, and like us, found it very
moving; we will never forget the reaction you had with everybody during the
ceremony. We hope you too enjoyed the day, which for us was perfect, and
thanks again for helping to make it so.
Lots of love,
Richard and Anna
